Charles Lord

Lecturer

Charles's primary research interests are in the area of vibration control and the development of novel composite materials tailored for structural dynamics. His research encompasses the modelling and development of materials and systems that dissipate energy from dynamic structures. A complimentary part of his research is modelling of complex materials and structures that contain friction and are exposed to vibration and shock. Another area of his reasearch is the model order reduction of nonliear materials of large finite element models with the goal of improving the computational time while capturing the appropriate physics. His research is motivated by the drive for more efficient structures and advanced materials leading to the need for advanced models, modelling techniques and appropriate frameworks.
